Here is a lengthy dialogue i had with some folks in a Discussion group about Relationship Astrology.

Sexuality and AStrology

It is MArs and VEnus that have the most to do with Sexuality - or sexual energy. Mars is the power to PROJECT our sexuality and Venus with how sexually ATRACTIVE or ALLURING we are.

OR

Mars projects - Venus receives
Mars gives the strength, courage, and power to conquest.
Venus gives beauty and charma nd refinement that attracts.

Thus, Venus is (generally) the most important planet for a woman's sexuality because it is the power to ATTRACT.

Mars is usually the most important for sex appeal for men because it is the power and force to PROJECT animal sexuality.

Of course women also project (MArs) and men also receive. (Venus) In couples where the Sexual vibe is very strong there will be conjunctions of Mars and VEnus or they will be in friendly placements like trines, etc.

Sun / MOon conjunction or friendly aspects have to do with deeper soul connections - so a professional AStrologer can see if a relationship is based more on Sexuality or a Soul nature by seeing which bond is stronger - Mars / Venus or Sun / Moon -
The AStrolger can also see who is the (likely) dominant by seeing which maLe planet (Sun or MArs) is stronger. WHo is projecting and who is receiving. Often times if the female is in the dominant role there will be problems with arguing as she is feeling neglectd because she must initiate and man is feeling nagged. The whole 'what do you wanna do tonight" argument, that descends into a spiral of madness has it's origin in this problem.

It is just a vibe, but if it is not there,,. the wheels come off the apple cart very quickly. This is why couples argue about nothing constantly. Women are (generally) happier when they receive what they want - and men (generally) happier when what they offer is well recieved. The Sexual metaphor is totally appropriate. The woman wants to be filled with what feels good and makes her feel valued and cherished and the man wants what he offers to be accepted well received and respected.

True relationship compatability analysis is done this way and it is VERY accurate.

I suppose the issue of sexuality got initiated b/c we were discussing Scorpio as a rising sign. So more like the outward projection of sexuality, but not necessrily sexuality as praxis.

So what Sam says aligns with my previous post in that my natal Venus is also in Cancer, in my eighth house, and thus underscores that notion of conflict with the Scorpio rising vs. the internal/real sexuality and needs for sexual expression.

venus in the 8th in cancer would make you sexually alluring - even if not the most beautiful woman, your power to attract is very high - Venus in the 8th will do that, especially when with the Sun, which also gives charisma - In the sign of Cancer, ruled by the Moon, the archetype female - it will be a very feminine refined energy. As opposed to if the 8th house was Aries, for example. As a feminine sign, Cancer will further internalize / emotionalize that energy. This placement can lead to forming an unrealistic sexual bond with lovers - even compulsive once the pleasure bond is established. This can impair decision making and ability to choose what will make one ultimately happiest. As Venus is the power to decide how high of a price we are willing to pay for our happiness and where we will find it. (think of Libran indecision) What Venus is truly seeking is devotion to higher love, ultimately in the form of devotionn to God as your highest Self.

In this case, Tanric or sacred Sexual practices would be advised to elevate her more sensual nature in this house. Also any spritual practices that revolve around art, music, etc. Singing gospel music, or Kirtan, (devotional yoga chanting) doing ritauals, chanting, etc. are also very effective.

But so, Sam, I have a question about looking at sexual compatibility (Venus/Mars) -- in typical Venus in Taurus/Sagittarius in Mars fashion, that is what I go straight to .... screw the romantic compatibility part! (heh)

Admittedly, I'm quite the novice here. As such, I've been looking at my Mars/his Mars to see what I can see. By FAR, the two hottest lovers I've had the pleasure of have BOTH had Mars in Leo. With my Mars in Sagittarius, I was thinking it made perfect sense. (~fire/fire~)

But now you are saying to look at the woman's Venus (Taurus) and his Mars (Leo), which I wouldn't think would be compatible AT ALL. (?)

Again, I'm looking at sexual compatibility, not necessarily romantic .... (although one of the men was a very compatible boyfriend and the other a "very special friend with very special benefits" situation, enjoying each others' company outside the bedroom as well.)

Does the Moon have anything to do with sexuality?

What REALLY am I looking for here?

Sexual compatability is a vast subject - i wrote a few things about it a few weeks ago, but there are many levels of attraction as we all know and they are shown by the planets.

Venus is not a projector she is an Attractor. It is Mars that always projects, male or female, and VEnus who attracts, male or female. A Strong Venus is attractive - Sexually, Mars / Venus conjunctions, in trines, has one strongly attracting (Venus) and another strongly projecting. (Mars)

Mars in trines with each other wil also make for a lot of Passion - not doubt - BUT not necessarily a receptive replenishing flame - Venus is the fuel for passions flame - (read: At best Love is the fuel of passion)

Beyond Sexual vitality, Mars also rules siblings, friends and buddies, people we will go to War with. Male or female, so it is not unusual to have that rough housing sexual comraderie with a fuck buddy - but also realize that it is going no further.

MOon is what we are emotionally comfortable with. Which leads to a deeper sustaining love / passion. Moon /MArs for instance you would feel more comforatable with the passion - If the Moon is not involved in your realtionshiop factors there wil always be an uneasiness deep inside surrounding the person -

Sun / Moon -
Moon / MArs -
Ascendant / Mars

or any combination of these planets with Venus - are also important - there are many types of attraction - Even with Jupiter

In my Astrology practice I am doing more and more compatbility readings. Helping people to understand the relationship dynamic.
A recent client had her mainly bonding to him through Jupiter and the Moon - His ethics and feelings. He bonding to her Mars and Venus - passion and beauty. So she admired him alot but he wasn't exactly rocking her world. (NO passion) Whereas she was his perfect Madonna / whore.. (insert other unrealistic male stereotype here) Plus Her Sun was dominant, so he felt energized by her and she felt drained - so there was a lot of sympathy but an obvious problem -

Anyway alot of possibilities-

Question: what placements/aspects would give one the best clue as to what a woman wants to receive....and what the man really wants to accepted and respected for? Is it just the moon?

Sad as it sounds, not all of us always know what it is we *really* want ... instead we might just be chasing some idea of what should bring us happiness in a relationship.

What each person truly wants is shown in the chart in general. Moon's are the most important for seeing the mental / emotional affinity between the couple - Regarding how the energy is expressed (male) and received (female) for instance - It is best that the shortest distance between the Moon's be from the Man to the Woman not the reverse - Judging the flow of energy in the chart from Sign to sign.

Also important is the friendship of the Signs that house the Moon and their relationship to each - their friendship and enmity. Moons is Gemini and libra are better than gemini and Scorpio for instance. Especially if the Man is in Gemini, because then it is only 5 signs to the womans Libra Moon, rather than in the reverse, which would be 9 signs to the woman's moon. Making her feeling neglected because his energy takes longer to reach her than her energy reaches him.

Many of the stupid relationship arguments come from these 2 placements. The famous 'why don't you ever plan anything for us to do?" argument comes from the woman feeling neglected, not cherished (not receiving energy the way she wants) and the man feeling nagged (not having his efforts well received) Men and women want respect equally. Men are just as hurt by not feeling respected as women are. But for men it is more Important that their ideas and actions are respected (Sun and Mars) and for women more important that their feelings be respected and that they feel cherished. (Moon Venus)

But this is one factor to determine how the couple will get along. I am a Vedic Astrologer where there are up to 12 different qualifying "KUtas" as they are called. They are very accurate in assesing Mental affinity through the Moon's. If the kutas are properly read they are deadly accurate. I have NEVER seen a mistake.

Primarily the Sun for the Man and Moon for the Woman - Their houses, conjunctions and Aspects determine what the people will pursue (man) or support (woman) and how they will go about it - how healthy or unhealthy - supportive or disruptive they will be. They are the main indicators on a Soul level. The Man (or dominant male partner principlpe if it is a gay couple) seeks to surrender his Sun (Independance, seed of purpose and inspiration) to a woman's Moon. (connection, Care, nurturing and growth) He wants to feel his ideas and actions inspire her to love and reflect that back as acceptance and joy. There is nothing more satisfying to a man than being respected for what he does and his way of doing it. To know that a woman is nourished by that and wants to be filled with him is what the male seeks. The woman wants to wrap her self around the qualities of the man and be filled up with him. To have her Moon alive with warmth and a bright reflection and connectedness. To be the fertile ground enlivened by the seed she wants to grow in her consciousness.

The main thing is that the Sun is inspiration and MOon is connection. They are both important. And both important to both sexes, but in relationships these archetypes dominate.

It is like fire and water - With no fire the water freezes - (the woman is hard frigid when not happy) with too much heat the water boils. (the man is volatile and angry when unhappy) The seed of male inspiration seeks to be planeted in the fertile creative consciousness of the female, making the water warm - energizing both.

boy this is a long post - I really like doing relationship readings - It is something where clients really learn alot about themselves.
